What is a ‘Whiplash’ Injury?

What is a ‘Whiplash’ Injury? is a post from: http://www.personalinjurylawyercalgaryinc.ca/

When involved in any sort of accident or collision there are a range of resulting medical conditions that you should be aware of during the hours and days after the incident. What might feel simply like a stiff or sore neck could be an indication of what is commonly known as “whiplash.” Other terms include neck sprain or strain, but neither captures the imagery behind how this soft tissue injury is caused quite so well.

The neck of an individual in a sudden collision typically undergoes sudden extension or flexion depending on the direction of the force. This sudden bending in any direction can cause injury to intervertebral joints, discs, and ligaments causing conditions such as chronic pain or joint dysfunction. In some cases it even affects cervical muscles and nerve roots.accident law

Symptoms of a neck injury may be apparent immediately, but several people do not present with the symptoms for several days. Symptoms include general neck pain and stiffness. Due to the fact that symptoms can be delayed, it is important to see a doctor to look for myofascial injuries and prevent long term issues.
